Who’s a Diva?

Since my career nickname is Paperback Diva, I decided to look up some definitions of the word.

Merriam Webster: a usually glamorous and successful female performer or personality diva>; especially : a popular female singer divas>

Urban Dictionary:. a bitchy woman that must have her way exactly, or no way at all. often rude and belittles people, believes that everyone is beneath her and thinks that she is so much more loved than what she really is. selfish, spoiled, and overly dramatic.

Urban Dictionary:. A diva is NOT a regular chick! Divas are High Maintenance and Expensive Bitches! Men need lots of money to own us;) A TRUE diva will do ANYTHING to get what she wants.

Wikipedia: The term derives from an ancient Italian word meaning “goddess”, which in turn derives from the feminine form of a Latin word divus, meaning “divine one”.

So–Am I a true Diva? Well, I certainly don’t want to be a “bitch”. But I like that Goddess thing! If a Diva is someone who will do anything (within moral and ethical reason) to get what she wants and believes in her own self-worth, then I ‘d like to be called that.
